I’ve gotten pretty used to kids dressing up as me, or rather Iron Man, for Halloween but from the sales figures I’m seeing this year it’s looking like thanks to the movie there’s going to be a lot of lil’ Tony Starks going door to door begging for candy.
Now of course thanks to my licencing rights with Marvel I get a cut of every costume sold, but I do have to admit that I miss the days where kids would make their own costumes as opposed to buying a pre-packaged one from Wal-Mart.
When I was a kid I made a Gort costume, with real working laser, out of some scrap metal laying around my father’s workshop. Now I understand that we all don’t have access to state of the (1970s) art welding equipment, but the only people I could find even attempting to make homemade costumes were overweight grown nerds.
